The Princess Anne Hotel, located in Asheville North Carolina, is hosting their first annual Golden Girls Getaway event January 14-16, 2023. The weekend will feature The Golden Gays™ the premier Golden Girls Drag Troupe. The Golden Gays™ are highly regarded as “the best in their field”, elevating The Golden Girls drag legacy to the next level by creating one-of-a-kind original musical parody adventures - paying tribute to the show that fans know and love, as well as highlighting the talents of the cast. The show stars Christopher Eklund as Blanche, Gerry Mastrolia as Rose, and Jason B. Schmidt as Dorothy. Their tight three-party harmonies, innovative choreography and camp direction bring each production to the next level. For over 5 years, the Golden Gays™ have been entertaining audiences. From their surprise performance at Rue LaRue Cafe (formerly in Washington Heights, New York City) to being the featured entertainment at the first Golden Girls Convention in Chicago this year, they have been featured on CNN, in the New York Times, and the Associated Press. They've been the headline entertainment on the Golden Fans at Sea Cruise since 2020 and have been seen at RuPaul's DragCon and ComicCon. Having toured throughout the United States these past 5 years, The Golden Gays™ have their sights set on reaching more cities than ever in 2023. Hot Flashbacks On Saturday, January 14th, don't miss the Golden Girls inspired drag show, Hot Flashbacks! Picture it: Asheville: January, 2023. Sophia Petrillo has gone missing! Your favorite pals and confidants Dorothy, Blanche, and Rose must travel down the road and back again across America to find her. Could she be at the Rusty Anchor? Or right in their kitchen on Richmond Street? Through a series of hilarious “hot flashbacks,” these hip old grannies take you on a musical journey through The Golden Girls’ most memorable moments to find their Ma! Lucky audience members may even have a chance to make their stage debut with the bosom buddies and become the next #TokenSophia. Live singing! Dancing! Bears! Oh My! Toto, we’re not in Miami anymore, sugar. “The Golden Gays™ always make me laugh. Their ability to improv is extraordinary, which means you never know what’s going to come out of their mouths, even if you see their shows multiple times!  The Golden Gays™ Drag Troupe will be performing at the 3rd annual Boston HoliGay Market on Sunday, December 11th from 12-7pm! This year's market will feature over 90 queer and ally vendors of all kinds, selling everything from art to jewelry to clothes to body positive apparel. The festivities also include drag performances, live music, and food trucks. The Golden Gays™ Drag Troupe is excited to be a part of this year's market and we hope to see you there! What is the HoliGay MarketHoliGay Market is a pop-up market and party celebrating LGBTQ+ businesses, designers, artists, and makers. The market will feature over 90 queer-owned and ally businesses. There will be a variety of vendors at HoliGay Market, making it a great opportunity to support local LGBTQ+ businesses and buy some unique holiday gifts! The HoliGay Market is a unique event that celebrates the LGBTQ+ community and promotes inclusivity and diversity. One of the youngest holiday markets in Boston, this event has quickly grown in popularity, so much so that NEOM had to move the event to a larger space - as in a 33,000 square foot space! Our 2022 Thank YULE for Being a Friend Tour kicks off in Madison, New Jersey on Friday, November 18th, 2022 at the Madison Community Arts Center. Thank YULE for Being a Friend is a special holiday show of our own creation. Here's a summary of the show: Picture It: ‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the store, each department was dripping with Yuletide decor. Sophia was nestled all snug in her bed, while visions of sugar prunes danced in her head. Before traveling to spend the Holidays with their families, Dorothy, Blanche, and Rose participate in a golden gift exchange full of hilarious surprises. Just as they get to the airport a winter storm blows in, leaving them trapped! In an unexpected Charles Dickens twist of events, the three grannies must visit their past, present, and future to save Christmas (and find Sophia)...just in time for turkey lurkey. Lucky audience members may even have a chance to become the next #TokenSophia! Our repertoir includes several exclusive shows written by us.
